Today, after far too many cold ones to count, was a real spring day. No sleet, wind, rain, clouds, snow, or hail. Blue skies and actual sunshine and almost warmth. I want to celebrate today's good things:
- Nathan is fully recuperated from his Monday bout of stomach flu. How I know: he wanted tacquitos in his lunch instead of peanut butter on white bread. (I only buy white bread when someone's post-puking.)
- Kaleb put on my sunglasses this morning, then looked out the back window and said, "Mom! These glasses make the whole world look like Thanksgiving!" (they have a yellowish tint.)
- a morning run. I started my run from the library so I could take a route I've not done before. I took a wrong turn and added a half mile onto my distance, but I still felt strong at the end.
- stretching in the park after running.
- driving home with the window rolled down and Violent Femmes on the radio.
- lunch with Haley and her friend Nikki, and a good conversation with them both about teenage pregnancy and popularity.
- two new layouts.
- standing in the sun with my friend Jamie, talking together while waiting for our kids to do their track events.
- our back gate, which was broken last fall in a wind microburst, is now repaired and hung back up. Thanks hon!
- This moment:
(Which is when Jake cleared the 4' 10" high jump and won the Alpine
Days meet!)
Did you have a good day too? I hope so!
Yay Jake! Yay half mile extra on run! Yay lunch with your daughter! Yay for sunshine!
Sounds like you had a great day. Hope tomorrow is even better. :)

Good job Jake!! :) It was a great day out in the sunshine for us as well!! I am fully convinced now though that someone was sick at the Easter gathering.. Nathan throwing up.. Madi throwing up.. Lukas throwing up.. Kaisen throwing up.. Christian throwing up.. Sunday and Monday... Luke is still weak in the tummy but pretty much better.. :( ugh, I hate sick kids!!!

I am having a good day today because it is finally a ME DAY. Left my boys with my mother-in-law at home. I'm at the library, taking my own sweet time and will go shopping after that, treat myself to whatever dinner I want and then ... who knows?
Thinking of you at the moment, though, because I noticed a cool thing at our library and wanted to mention it to you. The teen section is sponsoring a month long contest (in honor of poetry month) of book spine poetry. The kids take photos of spines, stacked to make a poem. Some of them are quite fun! I bet you'd rock at both composing something like this and judging a similar competition at your library!
So glad you had a great day!

I'm glad I was part of your good day. You were definitely part of mine because if you hadn't called me to see if I was AT the track meet I would have missed the message I didn't know I had from RAchel telling me that I needed to come at 3 for her event... it was 3... I raced down there to wait an hour BUT I got to wait with you so... Yea! :)
