I don't think you need to justify it. You like it. You are really, really talented at it. It isn't your only purpose in life, but it enhances the rest of it.

Tell the ISD - real and imaginary - to go away. I think it's perfectly fine that you enjoy scrapbooking. Because really, you can say everything you just said about mostly anything humans like to do: running, quilting, hiking, basket weaving. We all need something that keeps us repeating this process of breathing and living, day in and day out.

What Becky said.

I think that if I had space and budget for scrapbooking, I would. I have a box of fancy edge scissors, creative memories photo backing tape, markers, a few punches and stamps, and one CM 12x12 of me from birth through 12 or so (still need to finish through highschool) from the 90's . . . but when digital scrapbooking became an alternative, it answered my budget and space worries.

Keep scrapping!! You do have gifts, my friend!

Any hobby that you analyze too much will seem "strange". Just look at organized sports. Really? What's the point? Or needlepoint. Or baking. Or cake decorating. Or reading. Or long walks on the beach. I'm sure if you found out what HER hobby was, we could easily lampoon it in the middle of the craft store. (Or the middle of the shoe store. Wherever her hobby takes place...)
I love visiting paper stores (like paper zone, etc.) They don't carry as much scrapbook paper, but they have LOVELY paper you can use for cards, etc.

Hmmm... can you chalk it gray?

Amy, I love your writing. But I think you think too much. No. I KNOW you think too much. Listen to Becky. You like scrapping. You are good at it. End of story. No more thinking. You DESERVE to scrap and be happy doing it.

You know, it makes me sad to know you think these thoughts. I just scrap and and am happy doing it. I never give it any other thoughts other than thinking of the story I want to tell. I want you to be able to do that too.

I have just re-initiated counseling sessions with a counselor I worked with while John and I were separated (12 long years ago). Of course, the verdict, after the first phone session is that I am starving and the need spokes are missing, so the wheel doesn't turn very well. We are breaking down the various needs in my life that are not being met and he is forcing me to find ways to meet them. One he hammered was that I am an extremely creative individual and yet I have no outlets for my creativity at the moment.

All that to say, please DO keep scrapping. You are an amazingly creative person and you certainly don't want to get to the level of misery I am in. Be creative. Express yourself. Make your own life and live it good!
