Wendy

It is funny - one of the themes I have noticed running through all of the young adult novels I have written is the idea that teens often see their parents as the bad guy until they discover something in that parent's past, which somehow explains their particular faults or weaknesses and allows the teen to respond with greater understanding and compassion. Perhaps it is wishful thinking that teens would recognize their parents as humans with actions and reactions leading to good and bad characteristics. For whatever reason, it seems to dominate my psyche when I write.
