Tracie Claiborne

You are a wonderful, beautiful, smart, talented, creative, considerate, kind, caring, helpful, articulate, intelligent, warm, loyal, passionate, strong woman. Try to remember that. That’s not just me being nice, those are actual adjectives that describe you, the you that I have known for years. I wish you could see yourself like other people do. Love and hugs, my friend. You can get through this!

Amen to Tracie's words. I'm so sorry this is happening. I love you!

Amy so sorry it's been so tough. I love to run and I also have knee issues and have been to an ortho to look into the problem. Bone on bone pretty much under the kneecap. He told me I couldn't run, told me every single thing (well I didn't hear the term "freak of nature") your Dr. has told you. I was training for a marathon at the time and he told me if I continued I'd probably never run again. But I continued, I completed the marathon and I continue to run. My knees will never be great and I may not be running when I am 80, but I plan to run as long as I can. I have never gone back to the Dr. as I have been able to do sooooo much more than he said I could - some faith/trust was lost after that visit!

As a former runner of 35 years, I can say I have a glimmer of understanding of what it means to have your body betray you and take away the thing(at a young age) that makes you feel alive and sane and joyful. I also wanted to be that wrinkled 80 year old shuffling across the finish line with a great big grin on her face.
I am so sorry that you are going through this. I hope you can find the right balance to be able to continue your running and hiking without the horrible pain.

I am sorry that you were not heard or understood at the meeting with your doctor. And, I am glad that your PT did hear you and offered both hope and a plan to help you run again.

You continually encourage me and challenge me to be authentic and share the good and the ugly in my own life.

I am not Mormon, but I am a follower of Christ, and I will pray for you for healing - physical, emotional, and spiritual as you continue to work out your daily life!

Amy, I had no idea you were going through all of this. It sounds like you have a good physical therapist. I would definitely seek out other doctors to get a second and third opinion. I wish I could fix it for you. Life really does suck sometimes. You've been through a lot. You are strong. You are amazing. You will get through this too. (((hugs)))
